Family Game Night with ALEX Brand Toys

I am reveling in summer. I am loving the sunshine and the warm temperatures. And while it is trying at times (hey - I'm being real here!), it's amazing having the extra time at home with my boys. After the long winter we had (hello cold and snow!), they can't get enough time outside, running in the grass and soaking up the sun.

This summer especially, now that the boys are older, we are working on setting aside special days and nights for family time each week. These times are for quality time, whether it's a day trip to a local attraction or a movie night with popcorn.

One of my favorite ways to enjoy a night with my boys is to have a Game Night. We grab take out and pick up fun snacks, then sit around the living room and play round after round of games. Sometimes it gets heated (we are a competative family) but it usually ends in a lot of laughter.

ALEX brand toys has an amazing assortment of toys perfect for Family Game Night. These are a few ALEX has given me a chance to do with my family:

Jungle Speed Board Game by Tom & Yako

Jungle Speed Board Game by Tom & Yako

Bring some family fun and laughter to the table for game night! Count on your keen sense of observation and quick reflexes to get ahead in this game.

How to play Jungle Speed:

The Jungle Speed game is engaging and exciting. The complete deck of cards featuring abstract images is divided evenly among all players. Place the cards face down in front of you.  A bright yellow totem is then placed in the middle of the table.

•       Each player, in turn, reveals the top card of their draw pile. As players become more familiar with the symbols, they flip cards faster.  Players are looking for identical cards.  Colors have no significance, just the symbols.

•       If two cards are identical, those players must make a grab for the totem.  The faster player then gets to dump off all their cards to their unfortunate adversary.

•       To add to the difficulty, certain symbols on the cards are almost identical, which can trick a player into grabbing the totem by mistake.

•       Just when players think they’ve got it down, one of three special cards can temporarily change the rules and keep them on the edge.  Players may be called to make a grab at once, look for matching colors and not symbols, or even simultaneously flip cards.

•       The first person to get rid of all their cards wins the game!

For ages 8+

Playing time: 15 minutes

Players: 2-10

Scrabble Alphabet Scoop

Scrabble Alphabet Scoop

Scoop them, match them, slam and score! Young spellers will be out of their seats in a race to see who can spell their word first and slam on the pot's lid to score.

The rules are simple. Players each get a card and select the word on the card that they will attempt to spell. At the count of three, players rush to scoop letters out of the bowl at the same time to spell the word that they chose on their playing card. The first player to properly spell the word on their card wins! Only after they yell "yummy!" and close the lid on the pot. It's not that easy though, if a player scoops a fly they have to return their letters to the bowl and start over. But to assist, four blank tiles allow you to replace any tile with the letter you want.

Scrabble Alphabet Scoop is perfect for spelling practice. I definitely recommend it for families with young kids in school, or even homeschooling. Even jump in there yourself for a little spelling refresher.

You may have 2 or more players ages 6 and up.
