Sugar more HARMFUL than Cocaine?

Sugar more HARMFUL than Cocaine?

I KNEW IT !!!  I KNEW IT!!!  I KNEW IT!!!

Research studies now are saying that SUGAR is more addictive than cocaine.  I TOTALLY believe that.  It's so bad.  I can't believe it's taken THIS long to finally bring out the truth about it.  YES.  I am an addict.

And if I really wanted to bust myself out....I could kindly tell you the truth..I'm addicted to A LOT of things.  And 99% of them are all made with sugar.

Hello Stevia.  I'm Joey. Nice to meet you.

Is Sugar More Addictive Than Cocaine?

According to the latest research Sugar is an addictive substance and far more addictive than cocaine!! It s one of the most addictive and harmful substances that affects our children from the womb to adulthood. An astonishing 94 percent of rats who were allowed to choose mutually-exclusively between sugar water and cocaine, chose sugar. Even rats who were addicted to cocaine quickly switched their preference to sugar, once it was offered as a choice. The rats were also more willing to work for sugar than for cocaine.

The researchers speculate that the sweet receptors (two protein receptors located on the tongue), which evolved in ancestral times when the diet was very low in sugar, have not adapted to modern times’ high-sugar consumption.

Therefore, the abnormally high stimulation of these receptors by our sugar-rich diets generates excessive reward signals in the brain, which have the potential to override normal self-control mechanisms, and thus lead to addiction.

Additionally, their research found that there’s also a cross-tolerance and a cross-dependence between sugars and addictive drugs. As an example, animals with a long history of sugar consumption actually became tolerant (desensitized) to the analgesic effects of morphine. High Fructose corn syrup had 10 times the effect than sugar and is 20 times worse for our metabolism.

Deal or No Deal?

Deal or No Deal?

For some random reason...since becoming a mom to a moving child...every Saturday, Sunday and Monday mornings when I wake up...I tend to BREAK OUT IN HIVES.

Not sure why.

Well, I'm lying.

I know exactly why.

Cause it's the weekend and the LAST thing I want to do is CLEAN up my messy house!!

How do people that are ALWAYS clean have children?  Do they nag their housemates incessantly?

I know when I wake up like a crank and I start fussing around the house, cleaning counters, picking up toys...my husband ALWAYS says 'oh boy-she's in that mood again' then sweeps up Boston and runs out to Dunkin Donuts or something.

Leaving me feeling BAD for being a crank and also leaving me STUCK in a pile of messes.

It really pisses me off when I think about it.

For many reasons.

1) Why can't he say 'I totally understand your frustrations, just take a deep breath and let me help you'...then all is well in the house.  I stop nagging and I'm not stuck doing it ALL by MYSELF.

2) How on God's GREEN EARTH do 'organized' people do it with kids?!?!?!?!

Our carpets are DISGUSTING.  Thank you furry beast Rocky & furry beast Boston for dropping suckers, yogurt, you name it on the carpet and not telling me so that I can clean it up.

When I lived alone...my house was NEVER EVER EVER dirty.

But then I'm the nag when I wake up depressed that I have to clean it...when in reality I'd prefer going out to play, hitting up a pumpkin farm, visiting with friends, going to the park.

Don't get me wrong.  I'm grateful that I have a house TO MESSY UP.

But how do people do it?!?!?

Are you clean or messy?

I'm a momma in distress this morning.

And I'm about to just say 'screw it'.  My husband is in Jersey playing golf...the sun is shining....and I'm alive.

Who cares about living in filth, right?!?!?!

UGH.  It will drive me nuts ALL DAY knowing that my house is a disaster!!

Do you have toddlers?  How do you keep up with the clutter?

And am I a bad person for nagging on the weekends?!?!? hahaha.

((DEAR HUSBAND, I COULD BE SOMEONE WITH CLEANING OCD.  IF I WAS-IT WOULD BE 1,000 WORSE-SO MAN UP AND SHUT UP, K?!?!?!?  (((sigh))))

The Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen

The Dirty Dozen and Clean Fifteen

OPERATION HEALTHY HOUSE is just that.  My secret mission to make my house more healthy.  Are you in?  Let's do this together!

Wow.  The more I get wrapped up in learning about this the more it scares the bajeezus out of me!!

According to Alan Greene, MD, a clinical professor at Stanford University:  "More than 200 industrial chemicals found in NEWBORN BABIES at the moment of birth from studies in 2005."

The Dirty Dozen
These fruits and vegetables listed below usually have a thin skin and are hard to wash, making it more difficult to remove pesticides. The Dirty Dozen tend to contain higher levels of the toxins, and therefore, it's important to always buy them organic.

• Celery
 Peaches
• Strawberries
 Apples
 Blueberries
 Nectarines
 Bell Peppers
 Spinach
 Kale
 Cherries
• Potatoes
 Grapes

The Clean Fifteen
The fruits and vegetables listed below have thicker skins, are more resistant to pesticides and are easier to wash. While thicker skin does not always equate to lower levels of pesitcides, Dr. Sears says that you probablywon't be harming your health by buying non-organic versions of these:

• Onions
• Avocados
• Sweet Corn
• Pineapples
• Mangos
• Sweet Peas
• Asparagus
• Honeydew Melons
• Cabbage
